On May 17, 2012, I was quoted in a front page article in the Orlando Sentinel written by financial writer, Richard Burnett. The article was about the substantial decline in new bankruptcy petition filings. I have observed the same decline in asset protection activity.
My asset protection blog has always been a future indicator of financial conditions at the family and individual level. My blog platform provides detail statistics on visitor volume, page views, and what people are searching for on Google when they first find my asset protection blog. The blog traffic shows how many people are searching for information about Florida asset protection, whether or not these readers eventually contact myself or some other attorney.
During the years 2008 through 2011 the traffic to my asset protection blog greatly increased as more and more people faced financial distress. This year, traffic has been trending down again. The reduced interest in Florida asset protection law seems to be consistent with what the Sentinel article described as a downward trend in consumer bankruptcy filings.
